How to complete the gear of loose clone commando star wars clone trooper figure 3.75

Clone trooper

When buying used Republic Commando figures, it’s common to come across ones missing their backpacks. The two figures I’m introducing today are Toys “R” Us exclusives, commonly known as “TRU molds.” Both are missing their backpacks; one has yellowing on the body, while the other has a chip on the chest and is missing the right hand part.

While some comic book depictions show the backpack removed, and in some cases the armor doesn’t come with a backpack to begin with, I’ve always considered the backpack a particularly important element of Clone Commando armor. As a result, I’d been struggling for years with how to handle figures that were missing this part. That’s when the KO Commando figures from AliExpress came along. Not only are they inexpensive, but they also come with a wealth of accessories, such as blasters and backpacks. So, I decided to attach the backpacks from the Phi Skilata and the right wrist part from the Boss to the mold of this junk figure. As for the backpack, the plastic molding seems slightly warped, but it poses no problem for attachment. Even when viewed from the side, the backpack looks smooth. The attached wrist part also functions perfectly for holding the blaster.

With that, the base parts for painting the Commando are complete. I usually use paint stripper to remove the existing paint, but since the Scorch parts have a different plastic color, I’ll probably end up using spray paint. I think camouflage patterns or gray would look good, but since I’m not very good at masking, I’ll do a little more research before I actually start painting.
